Who we are

This site is run by TexaSports 501c3, of P.O. Box 330665, Fort Worth, Texas 76163, for the league, its clubs and the families who follow them. Where this page says “we” or “TexaSports”, that is who it means. This page sets out the rules we ask you to follow when you read a page, watch a game, make an account or post in a chat. There is no tick box on this site, so read this as the rules of the place rather than as a contract you signed. If you do not accept them, the remedy is not to use the site.

Accounts

Most of this site needs no account. Scores, standings, news, team and conference pages, the shop and every broadcast are open to anyone. An account exists mainly for one thing today: taking part in the live chat beside a game.

• You must be 18 or older to make an account. We do not ask for a date of birth, so this is a rule rather than a barrier — but it is the rule, and an account we learn belongs to a child is removed.
• Give a real email address you control. You confirm it by clicking a link before you can sign in, and it is how a password reset reaches you.
• The account is yours and you are responsible for what is done with it. Do not share the password. If you think somebody else has it, use the password reset — finishing one signs out every device.
• One person, one account. Do not make an account in somebody else's name, and do not choose a display name meant to look like a coach, an official or the league office.
• To change your display name or your email address, or to have an account removed, email us. A person does it.

Live chat

Chat appears beside a game that is being broadcast. Anyone can read it; only a signed-in member with a confirmed email address can post. This is a youth league, and a chat running beside a picture of somebody's child is not an ordinary chat, so the rules are stricter than you may expect and they are applied before a message appears rather than after somebody complains.

• Messages carrying a web link, an email address, a phone number, a postal address, a social media handle or an attempt to arrange contact are refused before they post — not hidden, refused. This is the rule that matters most and it is not negotiable: a phone number typed beside a child's game is the real risk on a site like this. The check is automatic and it does not catch everything, which is why anyone can report a message and why a person moderates.
• Do not post anything about an identifiable child that a parent would not want in public. Do not abuse, threaten or harass anyone, do not post anything sexual, and do not target officials, coaches or players.
• Do not advertise, sell or recruit, and do not post the same thing over and over.
• Anyone can report a message. Reports go to the league office for a person to review.
• The person running the broadcast moderates it, and can remove a message, slow the room down, lock it, or silence somebody for a set time. The league office can silence somebody across the whole platform, and permanently. Every one of those actions records who took it and why.
• Being silenced stops you posting; it does not stop you reading the site. If you think a silence is wrong, email the league office.

What you post

The only things a member can send us are chat messages, a display name and a report. There is no way for a member to upload a photograph, a video or a file anywhere on this site.

• What you type stays yours. By posting it you give us permission to check it, show it in the chat it was posted in, and keep it as part of the league's safety record — nothing more. We do not use it for anything else and we do not sell it.
• Do not post anything you do not have the right to post.
• A chat message shows the public display name you chose and what you typed. Your email address and your internet address are never shown. The message is still tied to your account, which is what makes moderation possible — so if you choose your own name as your display name, your name is public.
• Messages are removed 30 days after posting; a reported one stays while its report is open. The Privacy Policy sets that out exactly.
• A moderator can remove a message that breaks the rules above.

Photographs, and how to have one taken down

News photographs come from the league's own Facebook page or are supplied by the league office. The rest of the pictures — the crest, the images on the front page, the products in the shop — are artwork and stock, not photographs of anybody's child.

• News articles name athletes by first initial and surname and never print an age beside a name. That is enforced automatically, whoever is typing.
• A photograph imported from the league's Facebook page can appear here after automatic checks with nobody having looked at it. That is said plainly because it is a fact about your child rather than about us.
• The hidden camera record a phone attaches to a photograph — including its GPS coordinates — is stripped out before a picture is stored. A small number of pictures added when the site was first built predate that step; email us and any of them comes down.
• If a photograph or an article on this site concerns you or your child, email us and we will take it down. A person does that, so it is not instant. You do not have to explain why and you do not have to be the person in it.
• Permission to photograph athletes and to publish those photographs is given by a parent or guardian at registration, through the league's separate provider. The league holds it; this website does not.

Watching a game

Games are streamed through the league's streaming provider, and the player is loaded into this page from their servers. If something is wrong with a broadcast, tell us — TexaSports deals with it. You do not have to work out whose part of it failed.

• Broadcasts are free to watch and no account is needed to watch one.
• Do not record, re-broadcast, download or re-publish a stream. It shows other people's children.
• A broadcast can be cancelled, delayed or cut short for reasons that have nothing to do with this website — weather, a field, an encoder, an official's decision. A game appearing on the schedule is not a promise that it will be streamed.

How accurate this site is

Scores and standings are typed in by hand — by a league administrator, or by a referee using a single-use link emailed for one game — and the standings are worked out from those scores. This site is a copy of the league's record; the league office is the record.

• If a score here is wrong, the league office is who corrects it. A result shown on this site does not settle a protest or decide a placing.
• Schedules change. Check with your club before travelling.
• Nothing on this site can take a payment. It does not ask for a card number anywhere — if a page carrying this name asks you for one, close it and email us.

Using the site fairly

Ordinary use needs no permission. These are the things that are not ordinary use:

• Do not try to get into an account, a page or a part of the league office that is not yours.
• Do not scrape or bulk-copy the site, and do not run automated tools against it beyond ordinary search engine crawling.
• Do not interfere with the site, its security, or anybody else's use of it.
• Do not copy or reuse material from this site unless you own it or have permission from whoever does. Different parts of it belong to different people — TexaSports, the league, a club, and in the case of some photographs whoever took them. The league's clubs may of course use their own names and their own material.

What we do not promise

The site is provided as it is. We build it carefully and we fix what we find, and neither of those is a guarantee. We do not promise that the site will always be available, that every page will be right, or that a broadcast will happen. To the extent the law allows, TexaSports is not responsible for a loss caused by relying on a schedule, a score, a page or a broadcast here. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Links to other places

Some pages link out to Facebook or to the league's registration provider. Those are other people's sites, with their own terms and their own handling of your information, and we do not control what they do. The Privacy Policy lists every outside service involved in running this site and what each one receives.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas. They do not require arbitration and they do not ask anybody to give up the right to go to court. If a court decides that one part of this page cannot be enforced, the rest of it still stands.

Changes to these terms

When what the site does changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. No notice is sent, so that date is how you tell which version you are reading.
